The standardization and system construction of submarine geological map

Marine geological maps are one of national basic maps. As land geology maps are needed for mineral resource exploration and development, marine geological maps can provide scientific data for potential area of marine detrital mineral resources, hazard, and environmental knowledge for a better quality of life.
the purpose of this research is to develop a marine geological information system in order to store, manage and display marine geological objects existing in marine geological map to the recent. There is still no use marine geological data in use. Therefore, we need to construct a standardized database system for marine geological map through the verification of its data in South Korea.
To construct the information system for maringe geological map, Firstly, we collected the existing research data related digital map data. Secondly, we draw up the pilot database for submarine geological map in South Korea. thirdly, we considered both database schema and the standard guidance draft of submarine geological map and extracted to layer information and symbols from submarine geological map. Fourthly, we draw up the data model for submarine geological map.
