In the beginnings of the century, a number of new findings and advances have been made in 1:250000 Regional Geological Survey of about one hundred sheets with research programs of the Himalaya-Tibet plateau, carried out by China Geological Survey(CGS), and further information and understanding have been gained in respect to the continental dynamics of the sacred, supernatural and mysterious Himalaya-Tibet plateau.
Through the 1:250000 Regional geological Survey of the Himalaya-Tibet plateau, some new advances have been made in fundamental geology, geology of mineral deposits and ecological environment etc, Based on the new discoveries and observations submitted by the CGS, this paper presents only the factual data of the new discoveries of the ultrahigh-high pressure metamorphic rocks in south-central south Himalaya-Tibet plateau, the ophiolites, the main fossils, the sratigraphic system and the more isotope chronology data concerned. In connection with the tectonic evolution and the continental dynamics, the authors indicate that the pre-collisional tectonic realm of the Tibet plateau might be the Archipelagic ocean of three different periods that means the ocean with island arc and continental blocks, not a Vast Ocean without island arc, the so-called Tethys. Finally, based on the available geophysical, geochemical and petrological data gained in last few years, the authors wish to emphasize the importance of the delamination in the post-collisional orogenics of the Himalaya-Tibet plateau, and present a tentative moded for it.
