Polish part of international initiative OneGeology has been realized as a national project OneGeology-Poland (OneGeology.PL). The main goal of Polish part is preparing 1:1000 000 scale geological map in conformity with international standards of geological data (GeoSciML) to make a results available via OneGeology portal and also in Integrated System of Geological Cartography IKAR constructed by Polish Geological Institute. A geological structure of Poland is very complicated. Age of geological units and sediments is from Precambrian up to Quaternary. From polish point of view, Quaternary deposits are the most meaningful. Sediments of this geological period cover more than 70% of whole area of the country. Thickness of quaternary deposit reachs up to 300 m. Poland is located in central Europe, in a center of Pleistocene Scandinavian glacier activities. During Works on Detailed Geological Map of Poland, 1: 50 000 a lot of fieldwork Has been conducted. These studies allowed to recognize glacial deposits very well. During Pleistocene Period Poland has been covered by glacier for four times (The Oldest Glaciation, South-polish, Middle-polish, North-polish Glaciation). Glacial, fluvioglacial and hollow sediments was deposited while these periods. In the area beyond glacial accumulation river and eolian deposits are present. During an interglacial periods a river, lake and swamp sediments were deposed. A generalization of the map has been done to make it more intelligible for non-geologist. Reduction of a number of stadials and interstadials was required. Some structures were marked as a point or linear symbols. Analysis of geological data presented on geological map allow to construct a criterion of generalization that permit retain details of geological information essential for practical usage. Priority of OneGeology.PL is to realize aims of international initiative OneGeology. One million scale geological map of the world should help find regions predisposed to geohazards e.g. landslides, floods, ground subsidence, neotectonic earthquakes on a mining area and to locate area with interesting landscape as well as to popularize knowledge about natural phenomena, especially geological and geomorphologic features. The crucial points of OneGeology project are the practical aspects like spatial planning, exploitation of natural resources and drinking water. Overmuch generalized quaternary classification limit the number of receivers. In Poland more than 80% of the area connected with goals mentioned above, is build of quaternary deposits. If polish part of the Project is done carefully and precisely, it could be an excellent guide for other participants who face the same problems.
