IEI-02 Advances in digital data capture in geological mapping

 

The infrastructure and key techniques on digital geological survey system

Digital geological survey system is the software for whole process of geological mineral survey. It includes digital mapping, prospecting and exploration of mineral resources, orebody computer simulation, Ore grade estimation, Calculation of reserves, etc.There are seven subsystems as follows (1)RGMap: The field data capture of geological route observation. The spatial and attribute data of different scale geological route observation, such as geological observation point and route,geological boundary, attitude, sketch, sample, photo, The geochemical data and etc can be captured. (English & Chinese edition);(2)RGMapGIS: Making and mapping for digital geological map. The primitive data map, primary geological map and the spatial database of geological map can be produced by using various PRB data operation (English & Chinese edition); (3)RgSection: The field data capture of practical measured profile.(English & Chinese edition);(4)RgSectionGIS: The computation and cartography of practical measured profile. (English & Chinese edition);(5)MEMap: The fields data capture of exploratory drilling engineering & exploratory tunneling engineering, such as: the Geological documentation of exploratory thenches, shallow shafts, openings, drill holes;(6)MEMapGIS The distribution map in exploratory engineering of ore district and their data management, drillhole column drawing;(7)MEExplo: Geological profile along exploratory line , evaluation of ore grade, classification of mineral reserve, orebody computation£šincluding Geological oreblock method, Cross-sectional method, Kriging method£©and 3-D orebody display. The data layers model, the technology of data stream ¡°pool¡±, the inherited technology of data model in different work flow and interoperable data technique, etc are the most important basement technology. Base on the above technology, data can freely flow within the data layers model without manual exchanges and conversion. and the structure and no structure data model (including spatial features) can be abstracted to become the database data model of the finally interpretable results in different digital mapping stages. PRB granularity theory framework is the key technology of digital mapping system. It has been developed through the study of the segmentation techniques of the semantic, descriptional, spatial, storage granularity and their relationships with scale-independent mapping. It was based on establishing the expression of spatial data in mapping and complying with regulations of traditional mapping. The ¡°PRB syntax¡± of field geological mapping process with scale-independent mapping has been designed. Digital Compass, GPS and PDA are the basic hardware for field data capture of digital geological survey. The digital compass is a new device for measuring a digital indication of Strike, dip direction and dip angle with RGMap. The digital geological survey system has been applied in all geological survey since 2004 in China.
