GET-02 Nature of geothermal systems based on geophysical, geochemical, petrological and tectonic studies

 

Express technology of geoelectric investigation for exploring mineral water deposits

The technology includes the method of formation of short-pulsed electromagnetic field (FSPEF), method of vertical electric-resonance sounding (VERS). The technology application for lateral exploration of zones of mineral water distribution in the district of city-resort Morshin on Western Ukraine are presented. Field works were executed in September-October, 2005 along separate profiles with a step 20-50 m. Through anomalous zones, discovered by a method FSPEF, the profiles of VERS and acoustic sounding are laid.

The depth of VERS and acoustic sounding made 40 m. In separate points VERS was executed to the depths 500 m. As a result of the geophysical survey it is determine on three Areas, that Morshins'kie mineral waters occur mainly along the tectonic zones. The gravel deposits in the upper part of geological cross-section are an reservoir in which mineral waters act due to vertical migration from lower horizons.
Survey of tracing of zones of fractured zones, outside three Areas, is allowed to create the general map of the tectonic zones in a district Morshin city. Three main fractures are allocated, which migration of mineral water is along. Particular interest is the submeridional fracture which stretch more east from Morshin. A number of ravines appeared along the line of these tectonic zones. This zone is of interest for the searching and exploring of sources of Morshin mineral water.
The natural sources of mineral waters are formed in the sites of effusion from geological horizon of gravel deposits. Sources forming along ravines which cross the zones of maximum water saturation. On the result of the survey we make the recommendation optimum disposition of boreholes and captations for Morshinskaya mineral water production.
