Iran is located on northern hemisphere, in Middle East area. Existance of many great mountains in Iran area many geotourism phenomenon could be seen. Iran contains Alborz mountain in north, Zagros in south, and Central mountains in central of Iran. 114 salt plugs are outcropped in south of Iran in Zagros mountains. These salt plugs and diapirs are located in east of Kazerun-Burazjan fault and are known as Hormoz formation. Hormoz formation (Salt plugs and Diapirs) belong to lower Paleozoic. The major lithologies are evaporatic rocks as Salt and Gypsum and anhydrite. During geological times Hormoz formation moved up from deeper zones to surface by tectonic movements. Some of these diapirs are so great and contain many beautiful landscapes and geotourism phenomena. Some salt mountains like Dashti diapir, Anjir diapir, Gachin and Namak diapir are some of the greatest and the most beautiful Iran salt plugs. Salt glacier is another phenomenon of Iran diapirs. Salt falls are the other geotourism phenomena of these diapirs in Iran. White and salty falls that contain salt crystals are unique in Iran geology fields. Salt karsts, color salts and existence of many minerals like Pyrite, Hematite, and Fluorite in salt plugs are the other geotourism phenomena of Iran diapirs. Salt plugs can be used as geotourism places or as geopark for geotourism centers. Attractive Salt plugs in Iran are main places as geotourism parks to visit by tourists every day.
