Analysis on the mine environment geologic problems in southeast China

Yongguan Dong, Nanjing Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources (China)

The Southeast China, which includes Jiangsu, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Zhejiang provinces and Shanghai city, is a area with well-developing economy. The mine geologic environment problemswere caused intensely by mining in the area. About 2253.47km2 of lands was damaged, about 1404 million duns of mine solid abrogate rocks and 3837 million duns of mine waste water were discharged out per year in East China area, the poisonous and harmful materials such as acid, heavy meters, which come from these mine abrogate rocks and waste water, caused the environment pollution. The factors of causing mine geologic environment problems are discussed and it was indicated that the mine geological environment problems were produced mainly by artificial factors and natural factors, and the natural factors are the basic ones, and the artificial factors are the important ones for causing mine geological environment problems such as environment pollution, landslide, debris flow and other mine geologic hazards.
The different mine environment problems were caused by different economical type of mine, generally speaking, the state-owned mine enterprises are large scale in mining, and the lands are destroyed and occupied and the waste solid rocks and waste water are produced out more than that by private-owned mine enterprises, but the mine waste solid rocks and waste water were discharged out less than that were discharged out by private-owned mine enterprise, because the former possess good safeguard, precautionary measures and spent large amounts of money on environmental protection in mining the same amount of ore resources.
Lands were destroyed and occupied in mining about 2253.47km2 in East China, and about 59.44km2 were occupied by tailings dams, about 1672.49km2 were occupied and destroyed by open stope, about 75.64 km2 were occupied by mine abrogate rocks, about 445.85km2 were destroyed by ground breakdowns, which were caused by underground mining.
The grassland was occupied and destroyed about 15.06km2, the arable land was occupied and destroyed about 1647.54km2, the woodland was occupied and destroyed about 217.95km2 and another type of lands were occupied and destroyed about 372.91km2 in East China.
It is different that the lands are damaged by mining different kinds of ore resources in East Chin, the lands, which were destroyed by energy mine enterprise, amounted to the most part, and it is about 1760.39km2 and 78.12 percent of total destroyed lands.
The geological disasters happened non-uniformly in different time and different district, the collapse, landslip and debris flow happened extensively and strongly in Huaiyang mountainous area and East-south hilly regions in rainy seasons, mined-out collapse fields generally occurred in coal districts such as Huainan, Huaibei, Xuzhou and Pingxiang coal district in East China. The mine geological environment problems were caused mainly by mining in irregular ways.
