Geosciences contents in the Brazil Basic Education: Experimentation and interactivities learning

Rosely Imbernon, University of Sao Paulo (Brazil)

The science have been accused of dogmatism and lack significance. We could consider the pedagogical methods which science education have been presented for the students a long away from the science objectives. It was supposed that knowledge needs to become more accessible for the students and that new learning make sense for him. Furthermore the concepts and processes of Geosciences are transmitted in Brazil fundamental school, the methods which the earth history is teached did not allow the children perceive the earth process. In fact, the "geoscience" appears for the chidren as something extremely complex and the "scientist" as a privileged human who "discovers" the mysteries of the nature. Since 50 decade, the studies about science education shows the concept of scientific literacy. The concept of scientific literacy considers scientific literacy stages for the individuals, and the teacher should provide students to develop other perspectives of science and technology which include the history and nature of science and technology and the impact in the human society. We studied about scientific education process in Brazil fundamental school in order to provide a pedagogical method that improve social reality and planetary citizenship concept. The culture supplies means and significances for the children that allows construct the world interpretation (Vygotsky 2000). In fact, the environment perception is explained by presupposed from social-cultural origin and psychological processes (language, memory and reflection) (Ferreira & Imbernon, 2008). The Geosciences education requires teachers involved with an investigative methodology, which means a learning which the experimentation and interactivities has relevance. In fact, the knowledge is appropriated and constructed. Therefore, the perception of environment is explained as internal reconstruction of an external operation. The human being at Earth context is product of history and the same time is author and citizen. When children learn about earth processes they are established a better relationship with the environment where they live.
